Algeria joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Water Day on Wednesday. The country's water ministry held an exhibition to sensitize the public about water preservation. During the event the ministry showcased the newly refurbished River El Harrach project. The river, running through Algeria's capital Algier, had been heavily polluted. It has now been turned into a place where people enjoy walking on its grassy banks. Children at the event were taught on ways of preserving water. They were taken through water purification and ways to protect the environment. This year’s theme was "wastewater" and focused mainly on ways to reduce wastewater and how to reuse of it.
