US President's Barack Obama's half brother Malik is preparing to run for governor of Kenya's western county of Siaya.
Fifty-four-year-old Malik Obama said he is focused on "poverty eradication, infrastructure development and industrialisation".
"This I intend to do by putting in place programmes that will be appropriate, whereby we can re-allocate resources that are available to Siaya in a manner that will be of maximum benefit to the people of Siaya," said Malik Obama as he visited supporters in the region.
Malik Obama is running as an independent candidate in Kenya's March 4 elections.
This is the first time he is competing for elective office.
Malik Obama is up against stiff competition from candidates who are from well-funded parties.
On Monday, Kenya holds its first presidential election since the 2007 vote that descended into months of tribal violence that killed one thousand people and displaced 600-thousand from their homes.
