Consumers find ways to avoid high data costs

Some South African consumers are resorting to alternative means of accessing data to avoid paying Cellphone companies exorbitant charges. They accuse mobile phone giants of taking them for a ride, by offering cheap data that expires after a day. The Competition Commission's Data service market inquiry has revealed that cellphone companies charge low-income consumers excessive prices for prepaid data. And say the companies can't justify differences in pricing between prepaid and contract offerings.
