Islamist group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for Friday's deadly attack on Kenyan troops. However, the Kenya Defence Forces has refuted the claim. Spokesperson Paul Njuguna says soldiers are still battling the militants, and he's receiving regular updates on the situation. Al-Shabaab alleges it has killed dozens of Kenyan soldiers at a military base in the southern Somali town of Kulbiyow, near the Kenyan border. The group says two of its fighters detonated suicide car bombs at the base, before storming it. A few days, ago Kenyan troops attacked an al-Shabaab stronghold in the same town.
