Kenya's schools have allowed classes to resume, after being closed since last March. The coronavirus pandemic forced the government to shutter primary and higher education centers, where pupils are in close proximity, and social distancing is impossible. Kenya has also been one of the last East African nations to re-open schools. It's feared that prolonged absence from the classroom could affect academic development for the foreseaable future, and lead to high drop-out rates and teen pregnancies.
