On June 2, 2020, Kenyans marched on the US embassy in Nairobi to protest the police killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black American in the state of Minnesota, as well as incidents of police brutality in Kenya that have emerged in the wake of the country's anti-coronavirus curfew.
Embassy officials refused to accept a letter of protest addressed to Ambassador Kyle McCarter, after which demonstrators were dispersed by police.
