The Libyan House of Representatives confirmed on Monday the establishment of a committee to amend the council's rules of procedure.
Abdullah Blaihek, spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives explained that after the deliberations it was agreed that a committee would be formed to discuss and amend the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives.
The committee will examine in particular Law No. 4 of 2014, which regulates the work of the Council, provided that the committee is headed by the Chairman of the Legislative Committee, Ramadan Shenbash.
The possibility of holding a session in Sirte was also discussed, as it was agreed to hold a session the next period when the safety situation in Sirte is confirmed for the official 5+5 Joint Military Commission meetings.
Blaihek also mentioned that it was agreed during the session to prepare the House of Representatives for an alternative plan in the event that the political dialogue sponsored by the United Nations failed.
Blaihek pointed out that any meeting would be illegal unless the House of Representatives participated in it.
He added that the constitutional declaration, which stipulates that no meeting shall be held without the presence of the Council of Representatives, must be observed.
For his part, Ramadan Shenbash, Member of the Libyan Parliament and Chairman of the Committee in charge of organizing the internal law of the Parliament confirmed the formation of a seven people committee to amend the internal regulations of the House of Representatives.
He said that the committee consists of members who participated in the Ghadames meeting to ensure there will be a consensus between all parties.
The (5 + 5) military talks were launched between the Libyan parties, under the auspices of the United Nations, in the city of Ghadames, near the Algerian and Tunisian borders, a month ago, in the first talks between the opposing parties on Libyan soil.
