40 soldiers and civilian volunteers were killed in two separate attacks on military detachments by suspected jihadists near the city of Ouahigouya in northern Burkina Faso. Though no group has claimed responsibility, the attacks are believed to be retaliatory action for the killings of dozens of jihadists by the Burkina military over the weekend.
