VOA’s Linord Moudou gives an update on polio in Kenya and Somalia. VOA’s Lenny Ruvaga reports on the international campaign to rid the world of polio has been hampered in some Muslim countries by claims from some clerics that the polio vaccine is really an undercover campaign to sterilize Muslim children. Later, Abdulaziz Billow reports for VOA, from Mogadishu, that the World Health Organization has announced that Somalia is free of the polio virus, after no cases of the illness were reported in the past year.
