Gambian President Yayah Jammeh has called for a peaceful transition of power in the country. He has appointed a mediator general to help resolve the ongoing political impasse that was triggered after the President refused to hand over power to the new President Adama Barrow. Jammeh's mandate is due to end this month. The President has also slammed what he's calling international interference in the wake of the elections, and insists the supreme court is the only body able to rule on the election results. That hearing has been postponed, though.
