Malawian President Peter Mutharika says that he is in "excellent health", dismissing rumours of illness. This is the first time the 76 year old president has spoken to the public since his extended trip to the United States. Last week when he disembarked from his plane from the US, his right arm appeared stiff and he instead used his left arm to wave and to shake hands with officials. He told a press conference he was unable to use his right hand then because of "slight rheumatism". Mutharika terms the rumours of his ill-heath as baseless and malicious.
