Refugees upset at the United Nations

The United Nations Information Centre in Pretoria has urged police not to be heavy-handed when dealing with refugees and asylum seekers. It also urged refugees to respect South African law and not to use women and children as human shields during protest action.
A group of refugees spent the past month camping outside the UN High Commission for Refugees offices in Brooklyn, Pretoria. Residents have sought a court order to evict them.
