Rwandan wins prestigious UN youth award

Christelle Kwizera is a young leader to watch. She has been awarded the Cisco Youth Leadership Award at the 2020 Global Citizen prize-giving for her NGO Water Access Rwanda. The 26-year-old social enterprise leader could hardly contain her excitement when celebrity host Nick Jonas called to tell her the good news!

A mechanical engineer by training, Kwizera's social enterprise has established a network of boreholes and clean water micro-grids to serve around 70 000 Rwandans daily. DW's Christine Mhundwa caught up with Kwizera.
