South Africa Taxi Drivers Hold Airport Demonstration Against Uber

Hundreds of South African taxi drivers blocked the main highway to Africa's busiest airport, O.R. Tambo International, protesting against ride-hailing company Uber. The protest by drivers with metered cabs caused very serious traffic jams on the two highways near the Airport. Uber Technologies Inc's service has triggered protests by taxi drivers from London to Hungary and New Delhi. It has overturned traditional business models that require professional drivers to pay steep licensing fees to drive cabs. Meanwhile Uber drivers also held protest outside the Uber headquarters in Johannesburg. They accuse the company of not protecting them.
