South Africans call for more wildlife protections

Two “pet” tigers living next door to a childcare centre in Johannesburg sparked fear and anger among many people in the neighbourhood.

It has also renewed discussion about the ethical treatment of wildlife.

Now the government is drafting a new law to ban the domestication and exploitation of indigenous lions, but animal rights groups say all exotic animals should be protected.
