South Africa has reported over 8 000 new cases of COVID-19 for a second successive day.
8 319 cases were confirmed in the latest 24-hour cycle, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to over 845 000. The number of Covid-19 related fatalities has risen by 205, taking the death toll to 22 952. The Department of Health says that since the last report, over 44 000 tests have been conducted. Active cases have risen to 63 758 and recoveries to 758 373.
