Uganda to embark on testing for new COVID-19 strain

Published
The Ministry of Health has embarked on surveillance of the new strain of a COVID-19 and cautioned Ugandans to remain vigilant by following the COVID-19 prevention guidelines to curb the spread of the deadly disease.

State Minister of Health in charge of primary healthcare, Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu, who addressed the media in Kampala, said that the new strain of COVID-19 was detected in South Africa, Nigeria and the UK.

The ministry has also advised against using just the face shield without a mask after research showed that it still exposes the user to COVID-19 since the shield does not properly cover the nose and eyes.
