The Zimbabwean government has taken great exception to accusations of human rights abuses levelled against it by the Catholic Bishop’s conference. President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the church was now overstepping its role and venturing into politics. Rev Dr Kenneth Mtata of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches said people may play with words but its hard to deny the lived experience of ordinary citizens on the ground.
